China Glaze Ga Ga for Green

This one is from the China Glaze spring 2012 Electropop collection. I am loving this whole collection which is pretty rare! I am not a real fan of pastels in general but these have a twist that made me fall in love. They are not baby cute washed out pastels, this collection is a combination of brights and pastels but for me even the pastels are eye popping. I need them all, except for Techno. I have not been feeling the glitter lately which is very odd for me but I am fairly sure it is just a phase.

OPI Pirouette my Whistle over China Glaze Make Some Noise

I was very surprised at how lovely Pirouette my Whistle really is, I was not expecting it at all. Now I am thinking that over white with several layers it just might be able to satisfy my lemming for Lynderella Snow Angel! I was not expecting it to be so delicate and the fine goldish holo particles are gorgeous.
Application was a bit tricky, the large white hex glitter did not want to stay on the nail and took some pushing and shoving to manoeuvre into position. It was also a bit on the thicker side so I am thinking a bit of thinner might have helped. Also next time I will let the bottle sit upside down for a short while before my mani. I have not tried it yet myself but I have heard this works well for finicky glitters.
This was 2 coats of Make Some Noise, 1 Coat of Pirouette My Whistle with 1 Coat Gelous and 1 Coat Seche Vite

What are Friends For?

I have a girlfriend who discovered Shellac Nail Polish about 3 months ago and decided it was the best thing since sliced bread. I personally don't get it. I have been very lucky and have never had a problem with polish chipping, tip wear yes but that is something that does not really bother me I can't see it unless I look for it as it is only on the corners of my nails not the actual tips. Also her nails grow pretty quickly and after a week the regrowth is very visible. I am a bit of a perfectionist and that would drive me insane. For me the idea of wearing the same polish for 2 weeks is a bit nuts. I have the attention span of a flea and am usually bored after a day unless it it a spectacular polish, I am lucky if I can leave a mani alone for more then 3 days!
I have been talking to her about doing her own nails instead of the Shellac, I have a bit of paranoia about gel manicures because of all of the horrible stories I have heard about nail damage due to improper application. That being said I have never had one done myself, nobody touches my nails but me. I was concerned for her because this chick has great nails. She rarely wears polish, does nothing for her cuticles, not even hand cream...and her nails are fantastic. Yes. I hate her just a bit.
She finally decided that she would start to take care of her hands and nails herself and wants me to give her "lessons" so I jumped at the chance to convert her!

First let me apologise for the pictures, she is a muggle and thought that the whole before and after thing was very weird. I did the best I could.

So this was her hand before I got to it. I believe that she said this was 2.5 weeks after getting the Shellac put on and the regrowth is pretty bad. I must have been influencing her subliminally because she broke her index nail and actually kept it in a prescription bottle on the off chance I could fix it, although she stated over and over that I was not going to be able to do anything with a teabag!

Here is the after!
I have never removed Shellac before so this was a first for me, I cannot tell you how proud I am of the difference in the before and after, please notice the repaired index finger and happy cutes!!
p.s. the polish in the second photo is China Glaze Harvest Moon

China Glaze Frostbite

As I sit here staring at my stash waiting ever so patiently for my nail mail (insert sarcasm here) I am completely uninspired. I was thinking I would go neutral in preparation for the brights and holos I have on their way home to me when something catches my eye, inspiration at last!

Frostbite is from the Winter Ski Collection and may seem like a odd pick at this time of year but...it's cold here. Ok, not winter cold but after the burst of spring weather we had here it is cold.

This one had been sitting around for a bit so it needed thinner but even with thinner for me the application was not so great, not terrible but not great. It tended to be a bit on the streaky side. This was three coats with Gelous and Seche Vite.

So here we are 5 minutes after finishing up this mani, which I was surprisingly happy with and I hear it, knocking at my door is the mailman with my box of pretties. Since I had a fresh mani and things to do I slapped on some China Glaze White Cap just to say that I did. The application was like butter, really easy to get nice even thin coats.
Not my favourite combination but a really good excuse to redo them tomorrow!

China Glaze Grape Juice

This is an oldie but I still love it. From the 2009 Summer Days collection. I am sad to say that it is the only one that I have from that collection. 2009 was the very beginning of my addiction so I was not buying as much as I have been lately. I love anything with glass flecks in it and I really feel like I am missing out. After trying this out again I'm going to look around and see if I can find more of the collection. Application was a dream although it was a bit sheerer than I had expected. This was 3 coats with 1 Gelous and 1 Seche Vite. I could have easily quit after one coat for a completely different look but I wanted to get the depth of colour so I kept going.

OPI I Don't Give A Rotterdam

I know that I am a bit late to the party but, better late than never.  I love the glass flecked shimmery goodness in this polish. Wooden Shoe Like to Know? let me down a bit on the nail this blew me away, so much shimmer in one bottle!
Application was great it went on like butter but a bit sheer, the second and third coats were quite thick. This was 3 coats with one coat of Gelous and Seche Vite. I just had a thought, this may be a good one for layering.

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Scarlett over Kleancolor Bite Me

As much as I loved Bite Me I am incapable of leaving well enough alone, thank god for that! I love this every angle was a bit better then the last.
